ABOUT

THE LOTUS IS BLOOMING

The Pandemic year is turning out to be an Annus Mirabilis for art and literature.

My very first published book was My Pen and Soul. I thank God for making this dream a reality. It was an emotional journey writing that book, as I had to recall my personal journey as a student, real  life  stories I witnessed when I was working as a nurse  and the whole struggle experience when I worked in the Middle East without my family with me.

All that experience has prepared me to see opportunity in a crisis. Nevertheless, it took a global pandemic to force me to publish a book. Consequently, this book of mine is my gift to my mother who is a COVID-19 survivor. Pandemic does not have to be a death sentence. It could be a Bestseller.

Without a doubt, this book would not be possible without the support and inspiration from my family and friends. My mom is the best mom in the world. She is a queen, and she has always been there for me every time I needed her.

My Father, who is always my number one fan, has recovered well from a stroke that happened  last year. My siblings  are the best siblings  in history, always good and decent people.

My in-laws are  the  kindest persons  I have ever known. They are without a doubt the most beloved persons ever. I have truly loved every minute I’m with them.

My husband’s Zach is the nicest guy I have ever met, who is very supportive of my passion. Ultimately, my dearest Trinity is the very reason for my efforts.

To all who cheered on every step of the way.

Certainly, being a published author was one of my biggest accomplishments during the pandemic. There are so many benefits of self-publishing. The most important thing is I own my work and have complete control over the publishing process. As an author, I poured my heart and soul into writing my verses and compiling them into a book. As I have said, it’s very important for me to have power to make decisions throughout the publishing process. For instance, I can either choose to self-edit my work or choose my editor to edit my work. As an artist myself I have a Cover that stands out and represents my content.

Undeniably, after publishing my very first book, I felt like I was even more interested to write more.

Aside from more inspirational poems I plan to publish my collection of love poems dedicated to my husband. I want to write children’s books, memoirs and short inspirational stories.

This is getting bigger, bolder, more exciting things that still gloriously fall short of my endless potential.

To arrest the transmission of infections, I encourage my friends and readers to stay at home, paint or write a book to have sanity in these extraordinary times. Despite the fear and hardship, we can turn it into opportunities.  Furthermore, if I think the quarantine or lockdown is unproductive, assess why we’re doing so badly in almost everything and take the chance to do something about it. If anything, this disruption is an opportunity to make it better. We need to start seeing it that way. We shouldn’t be in a rush to return to our mediocre normal. We need to make the most out of these strange times.

Be like the lotus, even in the murkiest of water, it thrives, blooms, and emits its sweet scent in its environment. So must we, no matter how filthy where we are or how difficult our circumstances are, whatever situation we are in, let us keep growing, thriving, blooming and adding beauty to our world.

To sum it up, the annus mirabilis will hopefully become only the beginning of a revolution in the creative process.-Eureka Robey
