“My old shoes” by Eureka C. Bianzon

Staring on the table my converse laid

Tough and happiest times we’ve made

Through thick and thin we’ve been together

My old shoes I’ll treasure in my life forever

Got a funny looks from the dirty stains

Grayish hues from dust and dried paints

No one knew the kind of life we’ve been through

Yet my old shoes would rather give you a clue

Time I kicked them for I haven’t met my might

I threw them sometimes far from my sight

My poor old shoes were always there

When no one dares to listen and care

It made me realize how simple life is

Glad that they are my shoes and not theirs

We’ve gained things more than the richness

It painted my heart to live with humbleness
